It amazed me that people had me clean their homes when no one was even there. Some times only a young teenage child would be present. No I would never steal or hurt someone but how much time do you think those people spent researching whether or not I was a bad person. Carpet cleanings companies are very concerned about the business that they own and most companies run background checks. Secondly, they want their clients to be safe and secure. This is because they want a continuing business and a crime against them would be awful.
Most companies have actual employees. You should always ask when ordering a service if they use sub-contractors. In my opinion the carpet cleaning companies are better if they do not use contractors. That is very important because it is much easier to have control over employees then it is to have control over sub contractors. That is the reason that a criminal and regular background of the company can be checked easily because they do not hire any contractors for you.

Keep your self safe. Go ahead and make proper arrangements ahead of time, before you call in the carpet cleaners. If you are worried about being home alone when the carpet cleaning company comes in, see about having a friend and neighbor come over to sit with you while they are there. Just as you would not leave any stranger along in your home, think twice before leaving the crew there just because you do not like being alone.
You should also take care that when the workers of a carpet cleaning company are working in your rooms, the expensive items in your room are removed before they get in. Many times I have cleaned rooms that had money and high dollar jewelry lying all over the place. Help keep honest people honest by removing the temptation. This will make sure nothing is going to be stolen. If anything, you should have more worries about something being broken by accident then something being stolen. If you still find something stolen, then there is another thing that can possibly help you out in that case. Does the carpet cleaning company have insurance if an item is not replaceable then you can go to claim it from the place it was stolen during the time of carpet cleaning. Now you can set up your appointments and make sure to do all the precautions.
A Few Extra Tips
Many carpet cleaning companies offer maintenance plans for a price. Try and find a company that has been in business for a few years. Ordering and paying for a maintenance plan then only to find the company has closed is never fun. Check with friends and neighbors and see who they use. This is usually the best way to find a good cleaner. Check with the BBB. Even if the company is not a member all complaints will still be listed. Personally I think the BBB is a racket and am not a member. This does not mean I do not deliver the best service around.
